Professional Experience
Leading narrative design for a first-person immersive sim featuring LLM-powered NPCs. Crafting stories, worlds, and characters while implementing narrative content in Unity, and designing novel game systems for AI-powered character interactions.
Bootstrapped an interactive party game concept into a luxury entertainment and design firm. Developed "The Racket," an innovative Neo-Noir immersive experience, executing over 400 high-end productions for clients including Google, Meta, Wells Fargo, Twitch, and Adobe.
Creative Director and principal writer for a co-op action roguelike built on Jungian dream theory. Defined the game's narrative direction, world, and systems: the Archetypes and their realms, the progression economy, and the voice of the game. The work spanned eighteen months of development, from first principles to playable multiplayer.
Designed branded gameplay elements and costuming style guides for a three-day narrative-driven adventure game for 40 guests. Worked on-site to assist with event production and performances.
Ran a graphic design process for a game studio building app-based party games. Established the foundational brand aesthetic and developed a UI/UX treatment for core user stories.
Led the creative vision for 1800-person immersive arts and music festivals. Recruited and managed ~30 teams of artists building a fictional world through various media touchpoints, including: interactive art installations, newspapers, in-world television and radio, a custom website, scripted theater productions, and roaming character performances.
Artist in Residence with the Interpretive Media department, designing a city-scale alternate reality game embedded in San Francisco's museums and libraries.
Led urban adventure scavenger hunts and designed high-profile special projects including immersive spy adventures and custom urban adventures.
Managed the website for The Believer, McSweeney's National Magazine Award-nominated literary and culture magazine, and produced digital versions of its print-ready assets.
Designed the interactions between a 40-actor cast and 200+ guests a night for an acclaimed Prohibition-era immersive theater production. Managed a pre-run popup venue: a fully realized 1920s nightclub with cabaret stage and casino.
Managed production of an online archive of short-form work by prominent authors at one of the first digital-first book publishers, harvesting content from a wide range of source formats and converting it into a proprietary XML schema for the web. Ran the digital press using ebook-conversion software of my own design.
Managed quality assurance for PDF-to-iPad textbook conversion at one of the first digital textbook companies, coordinating overseas conversion vendors and collaborating with the design team on a proprietary publishing platform. Built a library of regular expressions that automated a large share of the QA process.
Reviewed manuscripts, assisted with digital production, and organized the McSweeney’s archive. Came up with creative ideas for products sold in the 826 Valencia stores.
