The Museum of Cheeselantian Archaeology

The Museum of Cheeselantian Archaeology presented the remarkable discoveries from excavations of the lost Cheeselantian civilization at a 3-day immersive arts festival. Through meticulously crafted artifacts, academic signage, and friendly docents, visitors were invited to explore the sacred traditions of a culture that elevated dairy to divine status.

Every element of the museum was designed to maintain the illusion of authenticity while rewarding closer inspection with increasingly ridiculous details. The installation included ceremonial cheese knives, religious iconography, and scholarly texts documenting the rise and fall of Cheeselantian society.

I worked with the fabrication team to conceive the exhibits, helped source the artifacts, and wrote all of the placards and interpretive media: a 2,000-year timeline that runs from the Gouda Era through the Wheynaissance to the Roquefort Revival, a treatise on symbolism arguing that cheese was “the message, the medium, and the signifier,” and a donor credit to Late Stage Capitol, “an investment firm with a vested interest in the greater good.” During the festival I served as a docent and kept the gift shop stocked.
