Danielle Baskin is an internet artist, prankster, and entrepreneur whose work explores the intersection of technology, art, and culture—the mind behind Dialup, which connected thousands of strangers in surprise phone calls, along with Maskalike, Branded Fruit, and Moonlight, a social platform for tarot.

For the Immersive Arts Alliance’s inaugural salon, I sat down with Danielle for a wide-ranging conversation about her projects and creative process—how a joke becomes a company, and a company becomes a piece of art. The evening closed with the audience performing one of her interactive pieces live.
